1. Awarded Student Project Fellowship from the Tamil Nadu State Council of Science and Technology for my M. Sc program-1997.

2. Awarded Research Scholar fellowship to do my Ph.D research part at the International Crops Research Institute for Semi Arid Tropic (ICRISAT), Hyderabad from 1999-2001 funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and administered by the Centre for Arid Zone Studies (CAZS), UK.

From the Union Minister for Agriculture

3. Awarded Jawaharlal Nehru Best Thesis Award –2002 for the outstanding post-graduate agricultural research in the field of Plant Biotechnology from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, India. This award was given by the then Honerable Union Minister for Agriculture Mr. Rajnath Singh. It is noteworthy to mention here that I am the first person to get this prestigius award under the Plant Biotechnology category from TNAU. This award include a cash of 20000 Rs (~500 US$).

4. Awarded JSPS-Post-Doctorate Fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of science, Japan from 2001-2003.
